Our last trip here was in September (2014). Unfortunately, we weren&#8217;t able to check out a Caribbean influenced sandwich place many people raging about: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paseorestaurants.com\/\">Paseo<\/a>! \u00a0We made sure to pay a visit this time around. Here is my review of the sandwich I had: the Smokin&#8217; Thighs.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00a0Two Marinated, skin-on, boneless chicken thighs; flash grilled &amp; oven roasted.<\/p>\n<p>All sandwiches are on a lightly toasted baguette slathered with aioli (seasoned mayo) , fresh cilantro, pickled jalape\u00f1os, crisp romaine lettuce &amp; crowned with caramelized onions.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DytQG4HxHh0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>The sandwich <del>looks<\/del> is\u00a0massive. It&#8217;s like a foot-long with the girth of a hefty burrito. This sandwich isn&#8217;t a joke. Most people who walked into the shop that day ordered one sandwich to share. They&#8217;re huge. Unless your line of work involves a lot of physical activity, I&#8217;d say splitting a sandwich is very doable.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #999999;\"><em>Located at:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: 0;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/embed?pb=!1m18!1m12!1m3!1d2687.3347006455133!2d-122.35250068436764!3d47.65849397918815!2m3!1f0!2f0!3f0!3m2!1i1024!2i768!4f13.1!3m3!1m2!1s0x549015acb314677d%3A0x79571e01c4e22324!2s4225+Fremont+Ave+N%2C+Seattle%2C+WA+98103!5e0!3m2!1sen!2sus!4v1452854776259\" width=\"450\" height=\"150\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Unwrapped, the sandwich is still steaming, and the smell is phenomenal. The sandwich does have a minor problem: it falls apart rather easily. It&#8217;s not the baguette\u2013the bread holds up really well actually. It&#8217;s ingredients between the sandwich. The moisture from the meat, the aioli, and the romaine lettuce leaf, make the sandwich become a god damn slip n&#8217; slide, but don&#8217;t worry it&#8217;s worth it. I&#8217;m sure they&#8217;re aware of this problem. Moist and juicy chicken thighs seasoned just right between a crunchy, robust baguette makes for an easy winner. Seriously, the bread tastes great (a massively overlooked bonus for a sandwich). The acidity from the pickled jalapenos really cut through the very very very rich sandwich. The romaine lettuce adds a crispy and refreshing texture. Lastly, the caramelized onions help mellow out and bring all of the separate flavors together. I think what makes the sandwich works the best is the fact that you can \u00a0still distinctly taste each of the elements of the sandwich as well the combined taste.<\/p>\n<p>Many sandwiches I have had face problems pertaining to flavors getting muddled with all the other rich elements in the sandwich. What generally results is a monotone flavor profile with varying intensities of saltiness.<\/p>\n<p>Paseo does sandwiches right, and I would definitely come back again to try the rest of their sandwiches.
